Every year since I moved to England I find myself getting more and more excited for Christmas! They do it big here compared to where I lived in NY, with Christmas markets popping up mid November, and festive “turning on the lights” ceremonies in cities and little towns alike. Last year was our first Christmas in our new house and since we had only moved in in October, we were still making it our home but managed to get our few decorations up.
Celebrating Christmas seems like a lot bigger affair in England than it ever really did in America to me. Sure Christmas is a big deal, but the lead up wasn’t as exciting in America. England knows how to get you in the Christmas spirit, or make a lot of people mad for starting too early, just depends on which side of the fence you are on. Me, I’m all about Christmas cheer starting in November here!
We’ve been crafting up a storm in our house these past few weeks. We made ornaments for friends (and ourselves) and a couple garlands to make our house look a little more festive after realising we didn’t really have many decorations.
