It’s been a while since I’d done a photo an hour, and with a day trip to Whitby planned, I figured this past Saturday would be a nice way to show you around.
9 am : Morning snuggles with Crash
10 am: It’s a long drive, so I took a selfie to break up the impending scenery photos.
11 am : Stuck in traffic with some pretty views. There’s this spot on the way to Whitby that is always at a standstill, super poorly thought out junction.
12 pm : I can finally see the sea!1 pm : Finishing up our little hike around Falling Foss, ending with views of the waterfall.
2 pm : I’d never been on this side of Whitby even though we’ve been quite a few times, it’s really pretty and you get fantastic views of the abbey.
3 pm : Visited this cute little mews to meet Adam’s dad’s friend who owns a B&B here, called Number Seven if you want to stay!
4 pm : In search of fish and chips and amazingly there was no queue at Magpie, one of the best known places. Four in the afternoon is apparently an in-between time and perfect to snag a table. I didn’t even get fish and chips, I made my own fish platter and had mash and I’m not even sorry, it was delicious.5 pm : We spent some time wandering around the shops of old Whitby and the displays were so nice in most of them. I loved this bath bomb and soap shop.
6 pm : When in Whitby, get yourself on a boat. For a 20 minute boat ride and the best views of Whitby’s coastline, it will set you back £3-3.50 depending on which one you hop on. Totally worth it. Plus you can escape the heat for a bit.
8 pm : I am happy to report I wore those sunglasses alllll day, in England! Unheard of, but we truly lucked out with an amazing sunny day.
9 pm : Sore feet means couch time. I basically didn’t move from the sofa for the rest of the night. Wild Saturday around here.
This weekend will be much more jam packed, we are off today to Secret Garden Party! Never heard of it? I’ve got some old posts here, but to get the best idea, watch my little video from the first year. I don’t think anything will ever beat the magic of the first year we went, but let’s hope this year comes close.
