A few weekends ago I headed to Manchester to learn about some holiday destinations with Jet2Holidays. I arrived at the event how I often feel on an actual holiday, hot, hungry, and hungover. So off to an authentic start then.
I was promptly given a glass of bubbles and sniffed out some canapés before I saw someone who was helping with the event with glitter on their face. I then quickly exclaimed to the bloggers I was with “I NEED glitter on my face!” as one does on holiday, of course. I was first in line to hop on the chair to get glittered up. When on holiday right?
Everyone was mingling but I was like a kid in a sweet shop and couldn’t stop wandering and exclaiming over all the things, the same way I act on an actual holiday (sensing a theme here?). My first stop off was Greece, where we learned about a killer sounding music festival happening in Malta called Isle of MTV which will be celebrating it’s 10th anniversary this year and will be going on the end of June. If only I hadn’t already planned out my holidays I’d be all over this, it’s FREE! Looking for a fun festival somewhere warm? You’ll probably get better weather in Malta than in England.
I then had to get my photo taken on their inflatable flamingo, because, HOLIDAY!My next stop was Tenerife, where I learned about Siam Park, an amazing sounding waterpark that has a waterslide that takes you through a POOL OF SHARKS! Pool of sharks!!! Ok, so you’re safe in the perspex slide, but they are all around you! It looked immense and immediately wanted to learn more so they showed us a super cool interactive look at the park on an iPad.
As excited as I was about the water park, they also had brochures for the amazing looking Hotel Botanico which boasts luxury indoor and outdoor pools, a spa garden, and four different restaurants. So after I’ve gone down the massive shark-tank slide, I can go and relax at Hotel Botanico in the very pretty looking outside rock pool. I wouldn’t hate it.
Katmandu park and resort in Mallorca, Spain was probably the least likely of the destinations I’d go and visit, but only because they really seemed to be super family friendly and have a lot of things that were more geared towards kids. So if you’ve got little ones, you’d be sorted. They even have a daycare play place for kids of a certain age if you want some adult time to yourself.
It was while visiting the Katmandu stall that I saw someone walking by with a smoking drink. As in literally billowing smoke. Smokey alcohol will cure my hangover! I’m on holiday after all, what’s a cocktail among friends?
The last booth to visit was BH Mallorca who won me over with the promise of a kid free waterpark. KID FREE!! No small people running into you while you wait in line to go on the big waterslides. Yes please. They have some amazing looking daytime pool parties and night time dj sets. I wouldn’t say no to going!
I was really glad I went to this event because I had basically written off places like Tenerife and Mallorca as drunken holiday places for 18 year olds. Now I know that they have to offer so much more, I’d consider getting some sun at any of them.
Have you ever been to any of these places?
