Well, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little overwhelmed that it’s already 2016. Last year was pretty spectacular and so this year has a lot to live up to in terms of travel. We actually don’t have any concrete plans, as in nothing is booked, so everything is a little up in the air. Nothing like leaving things to the last minute, kind of like me writing this post for the link up…
So here’s what we got up to in 2015 with a few hopeful travel spots for 2016.The beginning of last year I said how we wanted to go to Iceland, (Adam, his Dad and myself) which we did and it was incredible. I can’t actually put into words how amazing that trip was, and I still love looking back on our photos. We went whale watching, climbed on a glacier, stopped to admire a ton of waterfalls and took a dip in two separate hot springs; one slightly well known, and one that was a secret that I have yet to write about. In fact I actually still have photos and stories to share from various places, so hopefully I’ll get myself together soon and take you along with me.
A few of my friends and I went on a girls trip to the Lake district for a few days, and while we didn’t have the best weather, we still managed to have fun and see quite a bit of the area, including Ambleside which was every bit as pretty and charming as I’d heard. I loved where we stayed as well, at Brookwood Hall, and would love to get a group together and go back again.
I fit my visit home in end of August as well, and had a very rainy couple weeks in New York. I always look forward to going back for some warm summer weather but it just wasn’t in the cards this time. It was a special visit though as my grandparents from Oregon came for a bit of the time I was there so I got to make the most of family time.
I also mentioned wanting to go visit my family friends in Portugal, but they moved to Germany! So instead I went on an impromptu trip to outside Stuttgart and we went to Oktoberfest. It was so great catching up with them, but now they’ve moved back to America so I will have longer to go if I want to visit them again.
We also went on a bit of a last minute trip to Amsterdam end of October, booking flights and tickets to a huge warehouse Halloween party. We had amazing weather while we were there so got a lot of walking in and were pretty much dead on our feet after spending a few days in one of my favourite cities. Not to mention our first time paddle boating there, go at your peril.
Here’s where we are hoping to get to in 2016…
MexicoAdam’s really good friend that he met studying abroad in Plattsburgh is from Monterrey, and we might head to Mexico city or Guadalajara for a week to see them and hopefully meet up with some of my friends who are there as well. I’ve been to Mexico a few times, but it’s been waaaaay to long, so I think a trip is overdue!
Vienna{via}
After reading a few peoples blog posts about how pretty Vienna is, and especially how they do some great Christmas markets, I’m hoping we can maybe take a long weekend to go this winter. Fingers crossed.
I of course would like to go back to New York, more than likely the end of August all going well, or I might go later and get to visit my parents new beach house! As I mentioned, travel for this year is all up in the air at the moment, but we’re hoping for a few spontaneous long weekends away, so more than likely Ryanair or Easyjet will hold our fate in their ‘cheap fare’ hands.
Where are you off to this year?
