Adventures In :: England – Brockwood Hall, Lake District

April 22, 2015

I’m so behind on posts it’s a little silly. I was going to get this post up yesterday but the sun was out so I went around to Bev’s and we sat in her garden and drank prosecco instead. So I’ll share Brockwood Hall today with you, it’s such a cool place I didn’t want to forget about it.

When we went on our Lake District holiday we chose to stay at Brockwood Hall because Bev got a discount through her work. It was such a great place to stay I’m so glad we found it. It had a pool and sauna in a separate building, restaurant and bar on site, and lots of lodges to choose from. We lucked out and got one with pretty great views over the mountains. A few peacocks roamed the property, but tended to convene around the pool house.
If I was on the ball, I’d have taken pictures of the whole place before we threw our stuff all over it, but if you know me at all, on the ball I am not. The lodge we chose said it slept 6, there were two bedrooms one with a double bed and one with two singles, and a pull out double sofa bed. I said I’d stay on the sofa bed but to be honest I just slept on the sofa as it was nice and deep and then I didn’t have to disrupt anything but pulling the bed out every night. The lodge is self catering so it came with lots of cooking equipment fridge and everything, and they even nicely put out a little tray of coffee, milk and cookies to put you on until you made it to a store. If it wasn’t raining the entire time we were there, the porch would have been nice to sit out on, instead we enjoyed the views from the dryness of our living room. It was such a great place to stay for a weekend, we definitely weren’t ready to leave and wished we’d booked a few more days to stay. It was probably a more relaxing weekend since it was rainy, as we mainly hung out in the lodge, watched a movie, drank bubbles and played games. Not to mention listened to 90’s music and got super excited at every new song that came on.
The staff were really helpful at the hall as well, the only hiccup is that no one mentioned that a code was needed to get into the pool house, so we all got there and I had to go back to the lodge to get the code. We had dinner at the restaurant one night (booking advisable as it can get booked up) and the food was delicious! So if you don’t feel like cooking on your holiday, you can rest assured that you can get a good meal in the Hall. Would I go back? 100% yes, I’m already looking for a free weekend.
