1) Who or what has inspired you to travel?
I think growing up in a small town played a big part in my wanting to see the rest of the world. My high school spanish teacher played a large role as well, having traveled around a lot herself. She took me on my first trip to Mexico for a Model UN conference, and I haven’t stopped since.
2. Backpack or suitcase?
Suitcase, as much as I’d love to be able to fit everything in a backpack, the giant backpacking ones are NOT for me. Suitcases with wheels are much more convenient.
3. Song that epitomises travel for you.
Brimful of Asha by Cornershop. We used to listen to this loads on all of our road trips in New Zealand, and it’s just a perfect peppy traveling song. You’ve got to belt out the “everybody needs a bosom for a pillow” to really drive it home.
4. What period of time would you most like to visit?
1920’s without a doubt! I love the fashion, the naughtiness that ensues, and just the overall classiness of it. Which is why I’m going to try to have a 1920’s themed birthday party.
5. What’s the strangest food you really want to try?
I can’t really think of a strange food I want to try, but I REALLY want to have real Moroccan tagine and other food in Morocco. All those spices and flavours, I’m sure are ten times better in the actual country they come from.
6. Beach, mountain or jungle?
Jungle. I love searching for insects and other moving creatures just as much as different plants, flowers and mushrooms.
7. What is your best piece of travel advice?
Keep an open mind and say yes more often than no.
8. How do you like to unwind after a long day on the road?
Two words – Kitty. Snuggles. Without fail as soon as Adam and I get back from anywhere, even a long day trip, we each seek out a cat, and have a good cuddle. I of course always secretly hope on is on the bed so I can have a lay down haha.
9.If you had a super power, what would it be?
Teleporting! Free travel
10.What do you feel has been your biggest achievement in life so far?
I know some people might say University, or their job, but I think mine is honestly my travel experiences. Each experience feels like an achievement because I learn more about myself as well as others, and do some pretty amazing things in the process.
In traditional Leibster fashion, you are supposed to come up with ten new questions for your nominees to answer. Sorry, with my foggy head, I’m stealing Emma’s questions, because a) I’m getting back into bed after I post this and b) they are really good questions and I want to hear other people’s answers to them!
So I nominate
So hope you guys play along! And thanks to Emma for nominating me with some awesome questions.
