Sleek Eyeshadow Palettes

March 20, 2014

I’m going to do a post of all the things that I wouldn’t have discovered if it weren’t for reading beauty blogs, but thought I’d start with these eyeshadows. Pretty much the only makeup I ever wore was eye makeup, a wash of eyeshadow and some mascara. Most days that’s still what I’ll slap on, but now that my skin isn’t as ‘youthful’ as it used to, I tend to wear more products, thusly over a year ago I started scanning youtube for makeup tutorials and beauty blogs to look for the best products. I’m a researcher.

I stumbled across these Sleek eyeshadow palettes on several blogs, but it was Patricia who reminded me a couple months ago about them and since Boots were doing a buy one get one half price on Sleek products, I figured now was the time to try them. I snapped up the ‘Storm’ and ‘Oh so special’ Palettes. {‘Storm’ Palette}{‘Oh so special’ Palette}The packaging is great as it’s so thin and clasps firmly shut, but on my first trip away with them the plastic snapped off the right hand clasp (as you can see in the picture above) so I suppose they aren’t the sturdiest. I now have to use a hairband to keep it closed.

As far as the shadows themselves go, they are pretty nice, especially considering the price. The mattes are a bit chalky, but the shimmers are really blendable. The bright colours aren’t as bright when swept across your eyelids, but can be built up for a little more colour. The matte black makes the best eyeliner I’ve come across, and stays put all day. As you can see from the dents I’ve mainly used the purples. I really don’t know what use I’m going to have for the shocking pinks in the ‘oh so special’ palette, may try them as a blush.
Have you tried anything else from Sleek I should get?
