Sunday we finally went and did what we’ve been talking about for ages, we road on a steam train! With the nice weather we thought a walk around Matlock would be nice, so we chose to drive to Rowsley to hop on the Peak Rail. All of the trains are steam and diesel, and they have those satisfying ‘chuga chuga’ sounds as the wheels turn as you set off.CONTINUE READING
Saturday we decided to have a day trip in the city we live in and attend the Doncaster Beer Festival. We’ve missed this the past couple of years because of things going on, so needless to say I made sure we put it on the calendar and kept the day free.
Last Saturday we went to York for the day because we heard there was a chocolate festival on. Who am I to turn down stalls full of delicious chocolate? Turns out it was a combination of chocolate and other foods, the best of both worlds.
I mentioned in my last post, that after we had toured Sudbury Hall, we headed next door on the grounds to the Museum of Childhood. I wasn’t really sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised with the interesting history of toys through the ages, and recognising a few of my favourites. CONTINUE READING
