I wanted to get in the lovers spirit and paint hearts all over my nails, as you do. First off, let’s have a look at the amount of nail polish I’ve accumulated in two years.
As the title suggests…It’s Pancake Day today!! I’m not going to lie, we have shrove Tuesday in America, but when I found out there was a day specifically to make and eat pancakes, I got a little more excited about moving to England.(Pancakes at Haagen Dazs I ordered on a trip to Belgium)
Since we started furnishing our place, the boy and I are super picky about what we get. We spent a year finding the right real looking fake flowers and tall vase to put in the bathroom (sad). It makes sense though that we don’t want to buy something just for the sake of it that may only be temporary. Waste of money anyone?
So after two years, bargain hunting and shopping in stores and online, I finally got a “dressing table”.Now I use quotations because it’s not meant to be a dressing table, its one of those half circle tables that you put in hallways and what not, but it was £15 at a charity shop – I saw it and fell in love. It has carved legs and carved detailing all around the front. Not to mention it has an imprinted real leather top! Bags of character, just how I like things. It’s the perfect size as well as I only had that little corner to work with. At the moment, I just propped a mirror we had in the house up along the back, but when we move my plan is to get a mirror and proper lights to mount on the wall.
The day has finally come… The postman woke me up to the best surprise ever – an envelope with our passports back and a letter to say that I’m allowed to stay in the U.K. indefinitely! *cue trumpets*
I’m not kidding, this has been the longest process. And with no help other than confusing paragraphs on border websites that we had to decipher and hope we understood, I’m surprised it all went through.
First off, let me tell you I came to the U.K. on a partner visa. Also, not easily obtained. You have to live with your partner and show proof for two years before you can apply. Two years you say? That’s easy we lurrrvvveee each other! Yes, but, when the boyfriend is from England and the Girlfriend is from America, not a task for the faint hearted. So firstly, you are allowed what is it, like 90 days a year in each others countries? That’s not gonna fly.
So, I’m super late to the makeup wearing game. BUT in the past year I’ve quickly become obsessed.
Growing up I never wore makeup-no foundation, eyeshadow, bronzer or blush. Once in a blue moon I’d put on some lip gloss like everyone else, or maybe brush some mascara on quickly. Why you may ask? My mom never wore makeup/still doesn’t. Why should she? She’s gorgeous without it! Blessed with great skin, and big gorgeous blue eyes with dark lashes that don’t even need mascara. Not to mention for me, playing a sport in every season – not the best time to plaster your face in products.
This is probably the most made up my mom and I ever were growing up…clearly stylin’.
