On the outskirts of Christchurch was Orana wildflife park, which was a huge open space for the animals that lived there to roam. I love places like this because you can tend to have a lot of interaction with the animals. My favorite part? Feeding and petting the giraffes. I’m slightly obsessed.
One of the first places we went when we first got our car, was Waipara. It’s a really pretty wine region about half an hour outside Christchurch with some fantastic wines. Being from the Finger Lakes wine region in New York, it kind of reminded me of home with all the friendly wineries, both big and small. Instead of seeing the lakes as a background setting however, there was stretches of gorgeous mountain ranges.
I want to give you all a peek into our lives in New Zealand, and I think the best way to do this is to post it in sections. I literally have thousands of pictures, and it’s so hard to narrow them down, but thankfully I’ve already narrowed them down somewhat a couple months ago so I could get some hard-backed books printed of our adventure. For those that don’t know, the boy and I moved to New Zealand to live for a year when neither of us could stay in each other’s countries anymore. It was a random decision and one of the best one’s I’ve made in my entire life. So here’s just a little background/introduction to start off.
