This photo collage sums up my last month and why I’ve been missing from my poor blog again. Turns out you can’t type that well with a full arm cast, which has proven quite difficult as being on a computer is my job as well as my hobby.
I’d love to have a better story of how I came to injure myself, but embarrassingly I had too much to drink and fell off a hot tub that I was sat on the edge of at my friends hen do. I blame cocktail making and the bubbles (and my stupidity). I dislocated my elbow and broke my wrist. It’s been quite a long road to recovery and I’m still really struggling, in part because no one x-rayed my wrist when I complained how badly it hurt until a month later and found out that was broken, sooo even though I got rid of my full arm cast I’m back into a smaller much sparklier unit.
This has to be my most frustrating injury to date, normally I have leg casts on from broken ankles and broken toes, you realise how difficult things are to do one handed when you can’t bend your elbow! Putting my hair up was a struggle and you should have seen my boyfriend when I asked if he could help make a ponytail. I couldn’t fasten my own bra or fit into half my clothes as they wouldn’t fit over a cast. It made having to leave the house SUPER fun. I actually went and bought some new stuff as we were going to Amsterdam.
I also picked the WORST time of the year to have a full arm cast on, hello heatwave in Europe. It was in the high 20’s-30’s most of the time (high 80’s-90’s for you farenheight users), it’s been a struggle and I’ve definitely not been short of complaining about it (ask Adam).
So now that I’ve gotten that out of the way I can hopefully start to write posts again! I’ve got a few lined up with what I’ve been up to, and a couple exciting trips coming up. We are going to Brighton for the first time for August bank holiday weekend, and I’m back to America for a couple weeks in September and hoping to squeeze a few visits to some new cities in North Carolina I haven’t been to before. Now we just need to think where to go in October… any suggestions of nice places in Europe in October send them my way!
