I’ve been a little MIA around the internet the last 8 weeks because I’ve been working my butt off training for a boxing match! I’ve mentioned it a couple times, but thought I’d talk more about it and encourage anyone around the UK to find their nearest event and sign up, you won’t regret it.
Ultra White Collar boxing was founded to help raise money for Cancer Research UK, and what a job all the participants have done. Through these events they’ve already raised over £3 million for Cancer Research, and the event I’m boxing in on Saturday in Doncaster has raised over £13,000!
Sadly almost anyone you speak to, or you yourself has known someone who’s life has been affected by cancer. It’s a horrible horrible illness that hopefully one day we find a cure for. I am supremely lucky that my grandparents fought their battles with cancer and came out smiling on the other side. Other’s haven’t been so lucky and will always be in my thoughts. That’s why I signed up for 8 weeks training and harassed my friends and family to sponsor me and support me for this amazing charity. To each and every one of you I’m super grateful and lucky to have you in my life.
I encourage anyone in the UK to have a look at the UWCB website, look for your local event and sign up! You will fundraise for a great cause, challenge your body in ways you didn’t think you could, and meet friends for life. Everyone I’ve met is amazing, and it’s so cool to be a part of something where everyone is there for the same reason, to kick cancers butt.
My fight is this Saturday and I’ve just found out I’ll be matched with that beautiful woman Amanda in the top picture with me. The nerves are starting to kick in now and I’m just scared I’ll trip up in my entrance and the walk to the ring!
Win or lose during my fight, I feel like I’ve won already.
