While we were in Amsterdam, we did a lot of eating. I had one destination in mind after seeing them on Instagram, and that was Sir Hummus. Adam had one destination in mind after our last trip when he claimed he had the best burger ever, and that was Dante. So I figured I’d tell you our favourite three places we ate at, and would definitely return to.

Lunch
Sir Hummus
Van der Helstplein 2, 1072 PH Amsterdam
I can not say enough good things about Sir Hummus! The only downside is that they need to expand. When we got there in the afternoon there wasn’t a table or stool available so we had to wait about 15 minutes or so as there is very limited seating. It was completely worth the wait though, and the staff were so helpful and lovely. The man who is the brains behind the hummus (and their amazing hot sauce) was happily plating up hummus and tossing flatbreads into the warmer along with two other women. You can order a small plate, or a large one. My advice? Go large, you’ll wish you had once your hummus is gone. You could also choose from the toppings available that day, which were a meat stew I believe and mushrooms, or you can even add an egg. We all went for the classic bowls though, and were not disappointed. I could have stayed there all day and ordered more, but we didn’t want to deprive the people waiting their hummus. I’m still dreaming about it, so simple yet so delicious!
For Dinner
Dante Kitchen & Bar
Spuistraat 320, 1012 VX Amsterdam
On our first trip to Amsterdam while wandering along the canals we came across Dante, and ordered pizza and burgers and braved the cold and ate outside. Adam then declared this the best burger he ever had, and insisted we had to make a return on our most recent trip so John could try them out as well. We chose to eat inside this time as it was dark and freezing outside. I have none of my own pictures because by the time we got there after our canal cruise we were so hungry, and just went to town on our food. The guys ordered the burgers, insisting they were still just as good, and I went for a prosciutto and truffle tapenade pizza. I made it through about half, the pizzas are seriously huge, and I’d recommend sharing them, which is what we did the first time. They also do pasta, steaks, salads and a few other dishes dotted around so there’s something for everyone. They also have a pretty swish bar if you just want to go for drinks.
Not mentioned are snacks, of which there is only one option, FRITES! Jokes, there’s more, but honestly, you might as well just eat your weight in frites, don’t forget to add one of the 20+ sauce options, and then walk it all off along the canals.
Do you look for good places to eat when you travel or just go into the closest restaurant? If anyone has any other Amsterdam food recommendations, send them my way for our next trip.
