Life Lately #66

July 6, 2015

The last two weekends have been full of fun. We had the races first, and then a 4th of July BBQ this weekend. I didn’t win as per usual at the races, but it was still fun, and ended with Madness playing and dancing our butts off. This past weekend was the first party we’ve had in our garden in the new house. It’s the perfect party garden with a deck leading onto the lawn, and our newly built fire pit area. We had friends come from all over the place and it was great to see everyone get along so well. I ate so much though I still feel full. I made an American flag cheesecake like my mom and aunt used to make, so I felt like it was a little piece of home. I manned the BBQ for the day and made a massive thing of BBQ pulled pork as well, so there was no shortage of food.
As the night wound down I discovered I completely forgot to bring out the sparklers, so at 2am, with only five of us still awake around the fire, we lit some of them and then headed to bed. Successful party day for sure.
Did anyone else do anything for 4th of July this weekend? Do any of you American expats make your friends celebrate with you? I’ve got great ones who are willing to celebrate America for the day.

If you scroll back far enough in my feed you’ll see them last time we went as well. I also have my old photo of them printed out and framed on our wall.
