Ok, so I know I went to Wales last summer, but hey, I’ve still got a few places to share! So if you’re headed there this year, check them out. The first is the Festinioc Railway, which we caught for a round trip from Porthmadog. We had originally wanted to go on the Snowdonia mountain railway, but it was booked up, so we went with our next choice and it was still really fun. I’m a sucker for a steam train trip any day.Porthmadog is a really cute place to explore as well, so you can make a whole day of going on the train, mooching about the shops, and stopping for dinner later. It has a small harbour where you can watch people catching crabs and fishing as well. You got to choose which carriage to sit in, and so we chose and enclosed one with red seats first and swapped to another on the way back.If you get the guidebook, you can track where you are and see whats coming up next. The ride through the countryside is really pretty, and going through the hills and around the bends just seems so much cooler while on a steam train. The only other time I’d been on a steam train was near Matlock. I’m hoping to go on some more this year though as there’s a couple other ones near us, and it would be awesome to get back to Wales for a camping trip again and catch the Snowdonia one.
Have you ever been on a steam train?
