I’ll start off by saying I was super impressed with this brewery tour. There was so much information from such an iconic brand, and as a commercial lover, I loved seeing the ad’s and changing labels through the years. There was a lot of information about the process of making beer as well. I found the whole thing really interesting and before we knew it three hours had passed!A man of the world indeed! 🙂
The ingredients that go into Heineken, the “A” yeast is a secret ingredient that apparently allows the beer to taste the same wherever in the world it is distributed. So same great taste everywhere at any time is how they put it.
{Back when my old camera decided to focus when it felt like it}
The copper tanks where the beer was held were a thing of beauty. I’m obsessed with copper anyway, but the craftsmanship was on point.
We got to try some Wort, which is the water and barley mix. I quite liked it, but no one else seemed to be a fan.
We also got to work grinding some barley for them.
There were actual Heineken horses! This one above as you can see was named Mike.
We were eventually led into a room where we got to have our first Heineken, and learned how to pull the perfect pint (or tiny ones as was the case). The foamy head apparently keeps the carbonation in the beer, so we learned something new.
You are given two tokens at the beginning of your tour to use at the end, where you can have a go at pulling the perfect Heineken, or trade them in for two beers. You can tell what we decided…
