Sunday we braved the cold and went for a little target practice. Adam’s sister got us all some vouchers off Groupon for a place called The Activities Group to shoot some air rifles, paint balls guns, and my favourite, the archery. I was clearly channelling my inner Robin Hood with my coat hood up (who am I kidding, it was incredibly cold) and I shot my first round like a pro. All the other rounds weren’t so glorious. I think I had a big case of beginners luck.Adam’s 8 year old niece Callia snapped a few of these pics, budding photographer on our hands. Callia was pretty good, and probably hit the target the most out of all of us, which was a little shameful, being beat by an 8 year old. When it came time to competition time, one of the instructors let Callia go closer to the target, she did great but she actually did better when she was standing back with the rest of us!Adam was the only left hander in the whole group, like myself, he did amazing the first round. Also like myself, not so great the rest. We actually tied in the competition, fairly far down the list. I didn’t get great pictures of the target shooting, as it was freezing and it was getting dark. I hit a metal squirrel though, so I will consider that a victory. Small things.
With the target practice package, we got an hour of Archery, about an hour of target practice, and a go on the paintball gun. If I’m honest, I’ve shot paintball guns before, and the 15 seconds you get to shoot the paintball gun isn’t worth it, but for the Archery alone, it’s a great day.
The Activities Group hosts a whole load of other activities like quad biking, laser tag, kayaking, abseiling, caving, and loads of other fun looking adventures. They are based right outside of York and if you want to find out more you can check out their website. There is a Groupon voucher still going as well until the 17th, so if you are thinking of going in the next couple months, head over and book your experience cheaper.
We want to look into the kayaking and caving, but once it gets a little warmer!
