I’ve been following Emily’s blog Jammy and Jelly for quite a while now and thought it was such a cool idea that she asked her readers to tell her their New Years resolutions and she would draw them.
I don’t know that I’ve written anywhere here on my blog but my resolution of sorts is to get things done this year. This is the year that I do all of the little things I’ve been putting off, like properly learning to use my digital SLR (kindly illustrated by Emily above) and actually learning how to knit and crochet with the how to books I’ve bought. I tend to get very flighty with projects, well not this year! If I set out to do something (especially if I buy supplies for said something) then I’m going to work at doing it.
I asked Emily a few questions about herself and her illustrations so I could introduce you to her a little more, because I think everyone should go and check out her drawings!
1) How long have you been drawing and illustrating?
I did the first illustration on my blog a couple of months into having it… it’s an awful, scribbly little thing about a ‘Body Shop purchase’…it’s still buried up on my website somewhere! It might be quite embarrassing now – but I’m so glad I decided to pop that sketch up, it meant my blog finally had some sort of direction – before that it was just weird little posts where I attempted a bit of interior(?!?) and beauty blogging… and now I’m obsessed with drawing up all of the embarrassing funny little things that happen to me daily.
2) What tools/supplies do you use for your illustrations?
I still use the same watercolour set from my very first painting – and it’s got a lot of life left in it yet! I think it was a birthday gift? There’s only one brush with the set as well, but it does the trick!
3) Have you ever/would you consider doing commissions for people?
I have done a couple of commissions (even a portrait for a wedding!) and have lots of plans to do more! The information should be up on the website soon so watch this space 🙂
4) What are five random facts about yourself you’d like to share.
5 random facts about myself? That’s tricky. I studied to be a ballet dancer (definitely random), have a ridiculous sense of humour, an incredible family (an older brother and an older sister if thats interesting at all?), my hair really is as curly as I say, and… I go to the cinema an unhealthy amount.
If you want to go say hi to Emily and catch up on the resolutions she’s been drawing (which I highly recommend you do) you can find her on her blog Jammy and Jelly, or pop by her twitter.
What are some things you’ve been putting off that you want to accomplish this year?
