Right around the corner from our hotel, and near the train station we stumbled across this stunning Basilica. We weren’t entirely sure what it was at first as it has such a different look with its tall clock tower and impressive face and shape. So we obviously had to have a peek in and weren’t disappointed.
While we were on the steps getting ready to go in, I overheard a tour guide telling her group that if you were around the area at night, come back and you could see all the paintings inside the arches all lit up. Not being one to miss something pretty lit up, we headed back and it was pretty impressive. I couldn’t for the life of me capture it in a picture, as you can see it looks a little like it’s glowing within, but in person you could see the gorgeous gold paintings. I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again – sometimes you really find some cool things just wandering around, and this basilica was our surprise gem on the trip.
What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever come across while wandering side streets?
