Coromandel is one of those extremely magical places. You park up, and then you hike, and hike and hike through lush forests and emerge on one of the most beautiful secluded beaches. There weren’t a zillion people like most beaches because you’ve got to work to get to it, but once there you are treated with warm sand and enough room to actually swim in the ocean without running into people. It’s a popular destination for kayakers as you can go on tours around Coromandel. It is also a place where Narnia was filmed apparently when they come out onto a beach, that giant rock above was supposedly in the movie. I never really paid attention, I’m not a huge fan girl or anything. I’d have hated to be the people in charge of lugging all that equipment around there, they must have brought it in by boat.
Would you go on a really long hike if a secluded beach was the reward?
