The drive to Queenstown from Christchurch is full of mountains and it seems like your turning your head to look at the scenery constantly. I became obsessed with mountains living in New Zealand, I loved their snow topped peaks rolling down into grass along the bottoms. Beautiful. Queenstown is a city nestled between mountains with loads of character and a thriving nightlife. There are tons of bars and cafes dotted around, but equally pretty walks around the city near the water with eclectic markets taking place near the harbour. It seems to be the adventure capital of NZ with its speed boat trips through the gorges, helicopter rides, parachuting out of planes, and the highest bungee jump in the world. There are several agents you can walk in to that will help you book whatever tickles your fancy, but we just soaked in the scenes and traveled to a little place called Glenorchy about 20 minutes outside that has really pretty views.
One of the most talked about restaurants is Fergburger, which serves up giant burgers about the size of your head, with different sauces and meats to choose from, we were not disappointed! We were however a little disappointed that we wanted to ride the cable cars up the mountain and they were broken when we were there. Sad faces. On our way home we stopped at a couple wineries and a cheese place though, so happy faces were restored to our faces.
Have you ever been to Queenstown, or been on any sort of adventure holiday? If so, where did you go?
